Our Coaching Staff
Bob Hayes -Director
Bob has been the owner and Director of Toronto Summer Swim Camp since 2001. He was the Head Age Group Coach of the Toronto Swim Club for 13 years. As a swimmer, Bob was a National and World Cup medalist in the backstroke and was the University of Toronto Mens' Swim Team Captain. He was U of T Athlete of the Year in 2000. As a coach, Bob has produced 10 National and 14 Provincial Age Group Records. More recently, Bob's former swimmer Penny Oleksiak won 7 Olympic medals while representing Canada. At the camp, Bob provides a positive and dynamic environment, which motivates his athletes to achieve their potential. His passion for this sport is contagious. Bob is an elementary teacher at Kingsway College School; he currently competes as an Ironman Triathlon athlete and is a Boston Marathon competitor.
Victor Delač, Head Development Coach
Victor was the Head Development coach of the Toronto Swim Club from 1995-2016, and many of his athletes' records in the 10-and-under category still stand. His swimmers include Central Regional, Festival, and Provincial champions. Victor was also the Head Coach of the Varsity swim team at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) He has been leading the Toronto Summer Swim Camp development program since 2004. Victor sets a positive and high-energy learning environment, which motivates his athletes to develop great swimming efficiency and a love for the sport. In addition to his coaching role, Victor mentors most of the incoming coaches as they start their coaching careers. Victor is also an elementary teacher with the Toronto District School Board and is the Swim Convenor for the Toronto District Elementary School Athletic Association.
Andrea St. Jules, Elite Group Coach
Andrea has been coaching with Toronto Summer Swim Camp since 2015 and now heads the elite group. She is an Age-Group coach for the Granite Gators throughout the regular swim season. As a swimmer, she represented the Toronto Swim Club, setting multiple national records in the medley relay. Since joining the Toronto Summer Swim Camp staff Andrea has fostered a love for swimming among our highest-level swimmers at the camp.
Kate Hulford, Coach
Kate has coached with the Toronto Summer Swim Camp since 2021. She is a Toronto Swim Club swimmer and reached finals at the 2022 FINA World Cup in the 1500m and placed 6th at the Canadian Open Water Nationals in 2023. She currently swims for the University of Ottawa where she studies Political Science. She coaches the 10-12 year-old club swimmers and brings a wealth of knowledge to our camp as a distance swimmer. She is looking forward to leading our open-water swimmers this summer for swims in Lake Ontario.
Avery Leake, Coach
Avery has coached with the Toronto Summer Swim Camp since 2022. She swam for Toronto Swim Club for eight years and is on the Varsity swim team at University of Western Ontario. Avery's best event is the 200 BK which brought her to many top-level Canadian meets. She works with our youth swimmers at the camp and brings excellent energy and cheer to the program.
Jake Redfern, Coach
Jake has been a member of the Toronto Summer Swim Camp coaching staff since 2023 and attended the camp for 8 years before that as a swimmer. Jake swims for Crest Swim Club at the Provincial level and excels in the IM and middle distance events. He swam at Ontario Youth Junior Championship in the 200m & 400m IM and the 800 Free. Jake embodies the spirit of the Toronto Summer Swim Camp; spend a minute with Jake and you will feel his passion for this wonderful sport. Jake attends Monarch Park Collegiate in Toronto.
Blaze Munnik, Coach
Blaze began working with TSSC in 2023. She swims with Toronto Swim Club where she competed at Ontario Swim Championships in the 100 Fly. She works with our youngest swimmers and brings a nurturing, caring attitude to the program.
Sam Hibbert, Coach
Sam began coaching with Toronto Summer Swim Camp in 2022. He swims with the Granite Gators where he is working at becoming one of the top swimmers in the country, specializing in the Butterfly. Sam has competed at Canadian Olympic Trials and at the Speedo Canadian Championships. He brings energy and enthusiasm to the groups he coaches and recently graduated from Crestwood Preparatory School
Ava Camps, Coach
Ava is in her 2nd year coaching the camp. She is a current swimmer in the top group of the Toronto Swim Club. She works with our yougest swimmers at the camp and brings excellent energy and cheer to the whole program.
